Tentative Itinerary and points of interest:
Tuesday, Sept 15--Adventures in Hali region--Glacier Lagoons, optional glacier hike, Breidamerkursandur, etc.
Thurs, Sept 17-Sat Sept 19--daily adventures including Seljalandsfoss/Gljufurarfoss, Skogafoss/Kvernufoss, Vik, Pakgill, Reynisfjara/Black Sand Beaches, relaxing at the world class Icelandic horse farm, Off road adventure via ATV, snowmobile or horseback, closing dinner and MUCH, MUCH more.
Sun, Sept 20th--return to Keflavik airport
Drones--unless things change in the next year, you can fly them everywhere except at Gullfoss and Skogafoss
Travel: You are responsible for your travel to Iceland. You will fly into Keflavik (KEF) International Airport. It is a former US military base and the main airport in Iceland. Please arrive by 10am. Most flights arrive between 4am and 9am. There is lodging near Keflavik. If you want to visit the capital city of Reykjavik it is about 45 minutes away and easily accessed via the Fly bus.
To take part of the free transportation, your flight must arrive before 10 am on Sunday Sept 13th and depart no earlier than 10:00am on Sun, Sept 20th.
Lodging: We will be staying in three locations--Gullfoss Hotel (1 night), Hali Country Inn (2 nights) and Armot Guesthouse/Horse Farm (4 nights). Everyone will have their own bed, but you may have a shared bathroom with other FYF attendees. All rooms (except 6 at Armot) are double rooms with either two twin beds or a queen.
Transportation: Your registration includes transportation to and from the Keflavik airport as well as all week while in Iceland. We have several 4x4 vehicles that seat 4-6, and seats are randomly assigned each day. At home you may always ride shotgun, but at FYF, you can find yourself in any seat. If you feel that you can not ride in any seat of a vehicle, consider renting your own vehicle. Fair warning, renting vehicles in Iceland is very different than renting in the US and we will be driving on some F roads (non-maintained dirt roads that may require river crossings.)
Other Expenses: You will also be responsible for any gate fees, liquor, gifts, souvenirs, some meals, snacks and personal items.
NOTE: We have a two hour drive to the airport from the farm so we can not promise to be able to accommodate earlier flights. If you must take an earlier flight, consider flying out on the 21st. You can always join Cris and Dee for a quick jaunt to the seastacks and then relaxation at the Blue Lagoon on the 20th.
One of the questions is always, "What do I need to bring?" Below you will find some suggested items.
More info will be released soon.
